The Georges Mora Fellowship is dedicated to the support and promotion of contemporary art and artists in Melbourne and Australia.

Named in honour of Georges Mora, the renowned restaurateur, art dealer, patron, mentor and cultural catalyst, the Fellowship aims to ignite courage and support the fresh thinking required for the development of art in Australia.

Current Fellow: James Geurts

Based in Melbourne and the Netherlands, James Geurts conceives work that follows his interest in conceptual lines of perception and markers of place, such as meridians, tidal zones, horizons and orbitals.

Geurts’ next project, Floodplain, consists of a series of installations at key cultural sites along Melbourne’s Yarra River, or Birrarung as it is known to the Wurundjeri people, which will draw out the river’s ecological currents and cultural significance.
